Hair extension FAQ

How long will my extensions last?

The hair can last 6-12 months depending on how you take care of it. Hair extensions need to be treated with the highest quality products in order to maintain the shine and condition of the hair. It is important to wash them properly and to use care when styling with heat, just like your natural hair. Extensions need to be moved up every 6-10 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.

How are the weft Extensions attached?

The hair is attached using a small invisible track system (no braiding) that is attached to your hair in rows distributing the weight evenly to prevent and damage to your natural hair. the rows lay very flat to you hair and are invisible when wearing up.

Who is a candidate for extensions?

The ideal hair extension client has hair that is 3 inches long and wants to add length, thickness, texture, or color. The longer your natural hair is the more length you can add and more natural looking it will be. Adding high or lowlights and ombre color with extensions is a great way to change up your look without causing damage to your natural hair.

how much do extensions Cost?

Hair extensions are a luxury service so they are priced luxury. The price is determined with what your starting with plus what your end goal is. For example, if you have fine hair you will not need to add as many wefts or rows of hair extensions to achieve your goal. If you have thick corse hair and want to add length you will need more wefts and rows to achieve. If not, you will be left with a shelf in the back of your head were your natural hair and extensions meet. Basically, how every much natural hair you are starting with and you are wanting more length we have to add that much extra hair to achieve. A lot of clients like to add one row for thickness. Also extensions hold the style so much longer so CHEERS to not having to shampoo your hair as often!

Do I need to use professional products?

Absolutely. The hair needs special care to ensure the longevity and quality of the extensions. Shampoo must be sulfate free. A leave in conditioner and/or detangler is also a must. Avoid oils on the extension hair. Styling products are permitted but less is more in this case.

Are there any products I must avoid on the extensions?

Yes. Sunscreen. This will turn blonde hair peach or pink hue and is usually impossible to remove. Always wear your hair up for fun in the sun. Also, cover the extensions from chlorine, salt water, and spray tans.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR EXTENSIONS BETWEEN SALON VISITS

“Brush, brush, brush!!  Really, don’t be afraid to brush. That is the most common at home care mistake! Which then can cause the extensions to dread up. Another great tip is to braid your hair when working out and at night. Never, never, never use oily products on or around the bonding method because oil can cause the extensions to slide out. Also direct heat on the bonding method should be avoided since it can also reactivate the bond, which causes it to slide out. To ensure your hair remains healthy and luscious, treat your locks to a much-needed mask at least once a week. Extension hair can be costly and usually you’ll have it in for a few months. The more time you invest in taking care of the hair by following these steps, the better shape it will be in and the longer it will last.
